Internal OWASP Workshop in TNation Academy

On friday, 07.04.2017, TNation Akademy organized one of a series of workshops, however for the first time on the topic OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project). Darko Denčić held the lectures and made sure the workshop is effective, practical, knowledgeable and fun. Participants, developers, managers and QA specialists, recognized the benefits of OWASP, and certainly it will be of a great use in their upcoming projects. The goal of the workshop was to raise awareness about application security by identifying some of the most critical risks facing organizations. It provided unbiased and practical, cost-effective information about computer and internet applications, not only for the programmers, but for the people who are IT testers and managers, as well.

OWASP is worldwide free and open community focused on improving the security of application software, whose mission is to make application security “visible”, so that people and organizations can make informed decisions about application security risks.

The main focus of the workshop was the presentation of the OWASP and its top 10 list, which is very useful for the application security efforts. It covers mainly three issues: application security tools and standards; complete books on application security testing, secure code development; and developing functionality on prevention and following over 100 secure errors. One of the benefits was that the workshop was not only linked to one programming language, but was meant for all web, mobile and os (operative system) programmers and administrators.

TNation developed a passion for learning through the internal workshops it organizes for its employees. The focus of the OWASP workshop was to upgrade the knowledge of the TNation employees, which is of a great interest for both, employees themselves and the company itself.
