ProOptics in Belgrade: Opening New Chapters of Collaboration with Cursor AI Integration

From 12th to 16th of May, 2025, TNation had the pleasure of welcoming long-standing partners from the Norwegian company ProOptics. Our collaboration spans nearly eight years, centered around the development of specialized software solutions for optical stores, contact lens retailers, and ophthalmology clinics.

Their last visit was three years ago, and since then, the IT landscape has undergone significant changes. This visit marked an important step forward, focused on integrating advanced AI tools—most notably Cursor AI—into our daily development workflows. It was also an opportunity to strengthen both professional and personal connections through engaging sessions and relaxed gatherings beyond working hours.

Strategic Alignment: Vision Sharing and Role Clarity

ProOptics management representatives, Pelle Knudsen and Inge Skuseth, led an introductory workshop for our team, presenting the company’s business plans and the key challenges we will face in the upcoming period. Part of the session was also attended by other TNation employees, fostering broader insight and alignment across teams.

The core focus of the workshops was the practical implementation of Cursor AI within the context of a highly complex project that has been in continuous development and maintenance for many years. Leveraging artificial intelligence for code analysis and development assistance, this tool holds significant potential to accelerate workflows and optimize day-to-day development tasks.

Workshop Flow: From Introduction to Tangible Results

The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the capabilities offered by Cursor AI, accompanied by an active discussion on the expectations surrounding its integration into existing workflows.

For the first time, Cursor AI was applied directly to our codebase, marking the beginning of its operational evaluation.

Our teams worked on real-world tasks using Cursor AI, aiming to gain a clear, hands-on understanding of the benefits it brings to problem-solving, as well as the limitations of the tool in day-to-day development practice.

Strengthening Collaboration Through Dynamic Team Building Activities

Following the productive workshop sessions, we shifted gears with an adrenaline-filled team-building event at the Autokomerc go-kart track. In a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere, our teams traded keyboards for steering wheels and lines of code for curves and straights—an experience that brought plenty of excitement and fun for everyone involved.

The evening continued in a more laid-back setting at the Suvenir restaurant, where good food and great conversation rounded off the day in the best possible way.

Looking Ahead: Innovation, Partnership, and the Future of Optical Software Development

The client visit met all our expectations and marked the beginning of a new chapter in the long-standing collaboration between ProOptics and TNation. The introduction of advanced tools such as Cursor AI lays a strong foundation for faster, more efficient, and forward-thinking software development in the ophthalmology industry.

Even more importantly, the informal gatherings outside the office helped further strengthen mutual trust and team spirit—qualities that have consistently proven to be the cornerstone of success in this complex and long-term partnership.

We look forward to the challenges ahead and are confident that this renewed approach will be both inspiring and productive for our client and the TNation team alike.
